David is a 17-year-old violinist from Kyiv, Ukraine. And thanks to friends like you, he went home after iYouth Camp with something he needed.
That something was a kit of violin essentials — new strings, a rosin guard, a practice mute, and a cleaning cloth. Simple tools that will help David care for his violin for the next year of practice and performance.
He Never Smiled
David was 14 years old when he first arrived at camp. His parents had recently divorced and he was shy, withdrawn, and sad.
“He never smiled,” said one of the Ukrainian youth workers.
But something happened that week. David joined a small group, made new friends, and attended evening services. And because you made worship training sessions possible, he stepped out of his comfort zone to play a violin solo during the final evening of camp.
And with newfound confidence, he began to smile.
Far Beyond Music
That was three years ago. Today, David is 17 and returns to camp every summer. And this year, thanks to friends like you, he went home with a kit of violin essentials to keep him playing for another year.
