From Hinduism to Jesus: Meet Ashkay

After a life of worshiping many gods in the Hindu tradition, Akshay says he is now learning that Jesus is the powerful one!

During the difficult months of COVID-19, your generosity blessed a church in Lisbon, Portugal – which ultimately led to a man named Ashkay meeting Jesus.

We wanted you to hear his story!

When Akshay moved from India to Portugal, little did he know that his life would take a dramatic spiritual turn. But that’s what happened when a friend invited him to attend a church-wide dinner at Life Church Lisbon.

Jesus is the Powerful One
Raised Hindu, Akshay knew little about Jesus but listened intently as believers at the dinner shared about the Gospel.

That evening, he told Pastor Dan, “I want to turn from my past life and put my confidence in Christ alone.”

Pastor Dan gave Akshay a Bible in the Hindi language, which the new believer reads every day. After a life of worshiping many gods in the Hindu tradition, Akshay says he is now learning that Jesus is the powerful one!

Rewind Five Years
Pastors Dan and Joy West launched Life Church Lisbon a year before COVID-19 restricted travel.

During the difficult months of COVID-19, your generosity served the church by making it possible for me to pre-record worship sets for Life Church to use during their Sunday services.

Today, five years later, the church is celebrating its fifth anniversary, launching home groups in three locations, AND bearing spiritual fruit like Akshay.

This is the Church in Action!
Without the faithfulness of pioneers like Pastors Dan and Joy and the generosity of friends like you, Akshay may never have met Jesus. Today he’s a different man.

Thank you for making a difference!
