Thanks to you, we will participate in a historic evangelistic outreach event in Brussels on September 27.
For more than a year, the Billy Graham Association has been planning a ‘Festival of Hope’ to reach unbelievers in the Capital of Europe. Franklin Graham will speak at the event, which will be translated into the two primary Belgian languages: French and Flemish.
Three colleagues of ours are involved with the event in different capacities:
- Allyster Taubeneck is directing the national team responsible for organizing the event
- Pastor Daniel Costanza is helping train outreach teams at Brussels Christian Center.
- And David Vandeput, president of the Belgian Federal Synod, is helping promote the event to the national church.
Time for the Church to Go Out
During a launch event last February with more than 500 Christian leaders present, David encouraged churches to come together from across regions, denominations and languages.
“It’s not about your own little chapel, your own steeple. … It’s about the people who are lost outside of your four walls,” he said. “It’s time for the church to go out and make an impact, but that will only happen if we have a kingdom mindset and if we do things together.”
Boldly Proclaiming the Gospel
According to Allyster that’s exactly what’s happening. All 20 mainline denominations in Belgium are participating in the event including French speakers from Wallonia, Flemish speakers from Flanders and internationals.
“All are coming together in unity so that the gospel would be boldly proclaimed,” said Allyster. “Some 9,000 are registered for the event and organizers have secured an overflow space where an additional 5,000 can view the event on large-screen televisions and receive prayer and counseling.”
A Miraculous Spirit of Unity
Pastor Daniel says the event has been an unintended blessing for the national church.
“God is bringing churches together in a miraculous spirit of unity for this event,” he said. “Some 450 local churches have joined the ‘Festival of Hope’ outreach with many locations training believers to help with this campaign!”
We’ll Be On The Bus!
Thanks to you, we will be on one of hundreds of buses hired by the Billy Graham Association that will transport participants from churches around Belgium to the venue.
We look forward to bringing you follow-up stories of how God moves before, during and after this historic outreach!
Again, thank you for making it possible for us to be part of this outreach event.
You are making a difference!
Please pray for Allyster and his team, Pastor Daniel and other Belgian pastors, and David Vandeput during these final days leading up to the outreach event. There is still much work to be done before September 27!
