You Helped Expats Nolan and Joleen Bachoo Make Meaningful Connections

By Jeff Slaughter

Like many expats, Nolan and Joleen Bachoo face the problem of connecting with others who share like-minded passions. The Bachoos are passionate about worship and found the connections they were looking for at a training event that you made possible.

Can I share their story with you?

A Beautiful Country with Fundamental Issues
Nolan and Joleen Bachoo grew up in South Africa where Nolan’s father serves as a pastor and Joeleen’s father was a traveling evangelist.

Nolan worked for Toyota in South Africa for 18 years until he was transferred to Japan. After a two-year assignment in Japan, Nolan and Joeleen moved back to South Africa, but struggled to re-integrate.

“We were sad to see the regression of South Africa in many areas,” said Nolan. “It’s a beautiful country, but there are many fundamental issues – not the least of which is personal safety. When a position opened in Toyota Motor Europe, I applied for it, got the job and we moved to Belgium.”

Inspired by Unity
The Bachoos have lived in Belgium for five years and serve on the worship team of Redefined Church.

They attended their first ConVerge worship training conference this year where they were hoping to connect with other worship leaders in Belgium.

“What was really inspiring for us was to see the unity shared amongst all of us who attended,” said Nolan. “Despite our different cultural backgrounds, we were able to connect with others in a meaningful way.”

Thanks to You!
Thanks to you, Nolan and Joleen made meaningful connections within the national Belgian church at ConVerge Belgium 2024. And they are already looking forward to deepening those connections at next year’s event.

Thank you for encouraging and strengthening leaders like Nolan and Joeleen.

You are making a difference!
