How You Helped Make Two Worlds Collide

By Jeff Slaughter

For the past three years, you have made it possible for me to be part of a missions communications mastermind group led by a man named David Oaks.

This mastermind has become so much more than learning how to better communicate with friends like you.

It has become a circle of friends from California, Colorado, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Haiti, Uganda and Louisiana who have prayed for each other, cheered for each other and cried for each other. Leading the charge has been David, our coach.

Keep reading to see how you made it possible for our two worlds to collide in Budapest, Hungary …

“You’re in Budapest, Hungary?” I wrote. “So am I!”

A few weeks ago, I was settling into my hotel room in Budapest, Hungary, preparing to serve at the Fellowship of European International Church Summit.

As I checked my email, I noticed that my mastermind coach, David Oaks, was trying to set up a zoom call for that day. When he wrote the following, I could not believe my eyes: “So sorry … I’ll have to postpone the zoom call due to spotty internet at my hotel in Budapest, Hungary!”

How could it be possible that a man who had coached me for three years and one I’d never met in person, was now just minutes from my hotel – in this European city for a non-profit conference?

Turns out, it was quite possible!

So, I invited David to dinner and we spent two hours getting to know each other better, talking about missions and dreaming about the future of our ministries. What a precious blessing to have one-on-one time with David!

This would not have been possible with you. Thank you for making it possible for me to be in Budapest, Hungary when my world collided with the world of David Oaks!

Note: I hope that you are encouraged when you read the stories about the European leaders whom you are strengthening. David has taught me so much about how to better communicate the stories of those in whom you have a difference!

How To Strengthen Leaders
Because Europe has so few evangelicals, opportunities for leadership training are rare. This leaves the church weak and ineffective. When you make a contribution, you make it possible for leaders to train, network and find encouragement that ignites passion and strengthens the church.
