Reconnecting in Brussels

Unfortunately, during our trip to Brussels in October, we tested positive for Covid and had to quarantine for 10 days. This caused us to cancel – or miss – a couple of the events we were planning. But all we could do at that point was get well, get through quarantine and redeem as much of the time as we could!

And we did!

During our last week, we met with the pastors of Brussels Christian Center, members of our team from the European Worship Institute, and other friends and ministry colleagues.

Here’s a brief ‘selfie tour’ of our visits.

We met with Brussels Christian Center pastors Daniel and Antonella Constanza at a cafe in Waterloo. We enjoyed hearing miraculous stories of how God supplied ALL the needs for a church kitchen renovation so that the church’s new compassion ministry would have a place to prepare meals for the homeless in Brussels. I told Daniel he should write a book and call it, ‘The Kitchen God Built.’ It was very encouraging to hear how God supplied every need – financial and otherwise – for this kitchen that is being used for the glory of God. We’re thankful for the Costanzas and their hearts for seeing the gospel thrive in Belgium!

Before we had to quarantine, we enjoyed staying with our friends Jim and Anne Mills. The Mills opened the door to Belgium for us in the year 2,000 when we transitioned from France. We’re so thankful for them and their warm hospitality.
We enjoyed meeting with our friends Hans and Elria Ellis and their son Francois. We’ve worked together on several artistic events and outreaches and enjoyed dreaming about some future ideas.
Our friend Annayiz Goutier has worked with us for many years as a translator and admin assistant for European Worship Institute events. Her ‘day job’ is director of the Belgium Students for Christ chapter. We’re so thankful for her passion for ministry!
I had lunch with longtime friend and ministry colleague Jonathan Saporito, who has translated for my events for some 20 years. Jonathan is a professional translator and has worked with Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) for many years as well as translated books, documents and more from English to French. What a blessing he is to us and the French-speaking church!

Our friends Allyster and Laetitia Taubeneck are staff teachers with the European Worship Institute. What a joy to be with them and hear how God is using them in ministry – both in the church and marketplace.

It was a joy to lead worship again at Brussels Christian Center Sunday morning! What a wonderful team!
I’ve been corresponding with a young man named Elijah for several months concerning a mass gospel choir he is organizing in Belgium. Due to the quarantine, I didn’t think I was going to get to meet with him. But he came up to me after church at Brussels Christian Center and we had an opportunity to talk about the choir and his dreams for the future. Looking forward to getting to know Elijah better and supporting his initiative!rd to getting to know Elijah better and supporting his initiative!
